Who we are

We know what it is like.

Bringing good into this world is often hard, and navigating the myriad of regulations, opportunities and jargon can easily become unmanageable. I mean, where do you even start?

But with the right support, it can also be a lot of fun and immensely rewarding.

Our approach is based on that we have been there before. We have been the ones feeling lost, overwhelmed and the ones asking the silly questions. It is for this reason we at Triceratops aim to be affordable, accessible and affirming - it is what we needed (and often still do).

It is this experience that tells us that you, as a small charitable organisation, don’t need pure academic theory, or cutting edge techniques. You likely want practical support that is manageable, steps that are easy to follow and ideas that have worked for others. If we can sprinkle a bit of fun along the way, we will do that too.

We are here to help you be prepared for those ‘T-Rex’ attacks - here to help you have confidence in your strategic decisions, enhance your resilience to financial challenges and most importantly, do your best for the people, communities and causes you engage with.

As dinosaurs, Triceratops are thought to have spent most of their time going it alone, but from time to time, like similar species, they would come together in herds. We hope that we can offer you the sanctuary of the herd, so you can then leave and face the challenges coming your way with your head (complete with horns and frills) held high.

Triceratops Training Founder - David Page.

“Small charities are my passion. I was a service user as a child, have been volunteering since my teenage years and now, after grafting in the corporate and charitable world operate as a trainer and consultant working in the small charity sector.

Since 2006, I have partnered with huge multi-national charities through to small volunteer led community groups, (in both paid and voluntary guises), helping them start, flourish, and sadly, to also wind up.

As a proud ‘jack of all trades’, I have also been on the other side of the table, setting up ESG / CSR programmes with corporates and dishing out grants for funders. There is a real value in understanding the problems we face from multiple perspectives, rather than the siloed specialist views business practice pushes us into.

The support on offer stems from formal theory and diverse lived experience in fundraising, strategy, impact measurement and communications. Over the years I have discovered that learning, bravery and peer support are the key factors to building sustainable, resilient and effective purpose driven organisations.

What you see on this website is me. A product of the small charity sector, now wanting to sustainably pay back with a touch of fun and social responsibility.”
